Sissi & Otto for Altreforme
Sissi seat has an ambivalent personality: at first glance it looks like a sculpture but at a more careful sight we perceive its dual nature of reasoned superimposition of five seats. From a purely aesthetic piece of art, it becomes a set of five stools.
Suitable for contemporary spaces which, according to the new architectural canons, are getting smaller and smaller, Sissi is made out of five elements that promote sociability and that, when unnecessary, can be superimposed to create a contained, aesthetically appealing totemic sculpture.
“We live nowadays in contexts that are becoming more and more essential – Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas say – living spaces are shrinking. And that’s why we realized Sissi: an object that makes everyday life easier and much more pleasant. Now it is a sculpture. Now it is a stool.”
After creating Sissi, Studio Fuksas continues its design experimentation by investigating and examining in depth the theme of aluminum.
“The geometry is not static. It moves, expands, evolves itself. Eventually, it transforms itself. It pulses vitality. The divider becomes the means to look at the world.”
Otto divider was born as an expression of freedom. The pattern, in fact, moves, changes itself and becomes other than itself. It is dynamic.
The moment of change is represented using a plot that seems to move. The movement and the rotation change the design perception. The surface is drilled so as to turn into an observation point.
All in the name of sustainability: Sissi and Otto are definitely two eco-friendly products, 100% made out of aluminum.

Otto is the first altreforme product entirely created by a circular economy approach, exploiting metal sheets no longer usable for the requirements of the automotive field, made available to altreforme by the parent company Fontana Group.
