Gelendzhik Airport awarded best investment project of 2020 at NAIS -2021
The New Gelendzhik Airport, a project by Studio Fuksas currently under construction, was awarded at the 8th NAIS-2021 National Aviation Infrastructure Forum & Show in Moscow, Russia. The new terminal complex of the airport was recognized as the best investment project of 2020.
The construction of a new terminal at the Gelendzhik Airport started in June 2020. The area of the future airport complex will be more than 16,700 sqm, the building will have 13 check-in desks (including a counter for oversized luggage), 6 gates, parking for 430 cars and a separate parking lot for tourist buses. For passengers with children, a modern playground and a mother and child room will be provided. The terminal is fully adapted for passengers with disabilities.
The old terminal of Gelendzhik Airport began operating in May 2010. On February 14, 2019, within the framework of the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi, VTB Group and the administration of the Krasnodar Territory made a decision about the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a new modern airport complex. The project will improve the transport accessibility of the city and the quality of services provided to passengers and airlines. The volume of private investment in the project will amount to more than 5 billion rubles (55. 7 million euro) The project is being implemented by VTB Infrastructure Holding, part of the VTB Group. VTB Infrastructure Holding is a leader in the Russian infrastructure investment market and the largest investor in Russian infrastructure, implements large-scale strategic and commercially efficient projects on the principles of public-private partnerships and concession agreements.
