FUKSAS_Milano Design Week 2019

8-14 April 2019

FUKSAS is an architecture, urban planning and design studio, based in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen, Dubai and New York. The Studio benefits from the experience of Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas who have created more than 600 projects in the world in architecture, landscape, urban planning, industrial design and interior architecture.

Studio Fuksas participates in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile.Milano, which will take place from 9 to 14 April 2019 at the Milan Fair Rho-Pero, and at the Fuorisalone, with a series of design products created in collaboration with some leading Made in Italy companies :

  • Scratch is a collection of extra size ceramic slabs, designed by Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, in collaboration with ITALCER.

The new series, measuring 320×160 cm, is the perfect solution for decorating indoors and outdoors following a contemporary lifestyle. Thanks to the never ending and not oriented texture, the slabs can be declined in multiple formats and in six different shades: Milky Way, Eclipse, Moonlight, SuperLuna, Dark Graffiti, Light Graffiti.

ITALCER ceramic does not contain plastics and is completely recyclable, hygienic and hypoallergenic. It does not retain dirt, it is absolutely odorless and does not produce waste.

“Scratch is a sign that makes itself the contemporary identity of everyday life. A gesture that in its simplicity shapes and transforms the space. It is a metropolitan spirit. It becomes a blackboard that writes and rewrites the present. And the future. It is matter that marks the passing of time. That stops him and enchants the eye “.

  • Charlotte is a collection of design lamps available in three different models: Charlotte Globe (diameter 60 cm), Charlotte Applique (size 32x21x12.5 cm) and Charlotte Floor, in a new edition (size 182×32 cm).

“The Charlotte model comes from the world of illusion, from the challenge of transforming a two-dimensional element into volumes that multiply to infinity. A light that recalls the chasing of the waves and the transparency of the moment in which they become thinner, dematerialized, returning endless light drops.

Charlotte, in all her multi-faceted forms, seems to be modeled from a single volume with a laborious plot, sometimes impalpable, like that of a honeycomb, through which it is allowed to penetrate through concentric hexagonal shapes to have a hypnotic and always new perspective from each observation point ”.

Slamp lamps are guaranteed to last over 25 years. The materials used for Slamp products are the result of research work on technopolymers which has made the company a leader in lighting design since 1992. All the lamps are assembled and worked by hand by the “Slamp light seams” that allow to minimize, if not cancel, any kind of environmental pollution.

All the raw materials used for the Slamp creations comply with international environmental protection regulations.

  • Stella is a brand new cement lamp produced by Macevi, a Treviso company specialized in the production of elements for street furniture and made-to-measure products. Stella is made entirely with Special Concrete Macevi cement, a self-compacting cement conglomerate that has a photocatalytic function and anti-polluting properties. Of dimensions H48cm, L: 57cm, D: 60cm, the Stella lamp is available in white or gray cement.

“From outer space to the Earth: pure lighting.

Stella, the first star ever formed in the universe, was created by primordial light. Light that shapes and transforms matter.

The structure of this lamp is composed of geometric shapes that guide the light towards the outside and bring lightness to the rigid cement. “

  • Olympia is a collection of lamps, with movable and adjustable arms, produced by Nemo Lighting and created to best interpret the diffusion of LED light in spaces. For the Salone del Mobile 2019, Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas add, to the Olympia series, the suspension lamp, composed of 3 elements, each of which is characterized by two lighting bodies. The individual lamps are equipped with a diffuser designed for a 360-degree light emission.

A flying saucer with an optical decoration whose white parts dematerialize in pure light, made of opal polymeric material and opaque elements in shaped metal, in different configurations.

“UFO Unidentified flying objects, they rediscover their uniqueness to merge into a luminous sculptural object”.

Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas

All Olympia lamps are made with recyclable materials, from polymeric blends that make up the light diffusers to finish with aluminum and / or steel tubes.

The choice to use a LED light source guarantees a lower ecological footprint thanks to the lower power required to generate the correct lighting inside the rooms.

The technological solution dedicated to Olympia does not include the use of external power supplies and therefore contributes to reducing the use of electronic components inside the appliances, this means less energy for production and fewer disposal processes.

Studio Fuksas, in fifty years of activity, has developed a design method based on the interaction between different disciplines to respond to architectural, urban planning and contemporary design questions. The firm has created works in Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia, receiving numerous international awards. Studio Fuksas recently won the competition for the construction of the Gelendzhik airport in Russia, for which it is also responsible for designing the interiors and furnishings, and is working on the project for the ICC in Jerusalem which will become the largest Middle East convention center.
