The “Colombina collection” presents itself as a project distinguished by a sculptural approach: new, pleasant, surprising plates, containers and elegant cups, made from different materials and in different colours. Yet, behind Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas’s project there is a profound knowledge of table rituals: as a matter of fact their proposal is very close to the revival of the so-called “French” dinner service (ancestor of the modern buffet).
It is not a mere gratuitous historicist recycling, but on the contrary is a complete set open to the evolution of the modern concept of dining, thanks to its jovial component and its aptitude to transform and modify the composition of elements on the table. One piece contains the other and all can be freely combined, like an inviting petals’ stack to be peeled one by one according to the guests’ preferences and, obviously, the dinner options.
