Doriana Fuksas joins Dezeen Awards 2019 judges panel

Studio Fuksas co-founder Doriana Fuksas has joined the Dezeen Awards 2019 judges lineup.

Dezeen Awards, which is now open for entries, celebrates the world’s best architecture, interiors and design. Enter before 29 March to take advantage of discounted entry.
The awards will be judged by a panel of 75 leading figures from across the creative industries.
The entry deadline for Dezeen Awards 2019 is 30 May, with discounts on offer to those who enter before 29 March.

Italian architect Doriana Fuksas is co-founder of Studio Fuksas.

Fuksas has received a degree in architecture from École Spéciale d’Architecture (ESA) in Paris and she graduated from the University of Rome in History of Modern and Contemporary Architecture in 1979. She has done didactic activities at the Institute of History of Art at the Faculty of Letters and Arts and at Industrial Design Department ITACA at “La Sapienza” University in Rome. She has curated four “Special Projects” at the “VII Mostra Internazionale di Architettura di Venezia”, Less Aesthetics, More Ethics in 2000. Since 1985 she works with Massimiliano Fuksas and she has been director in charge of “Fuksas Design” since 1997.

Studio Fuksas, which the architect leads with partner Massimiliano Fuksas, has designed over 600 projects worldwide, including a terminal at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, the New Rome EUR Convention Center “The Cloud” and Hotel, the National Archives of France in Paris, the New Milan Trade Fair, Ferrari Headquarters and Research Centre in Maranello and a concert and exhibition venue in Tbilisi. The Studio also installed a 4-storey sculptural steel staircase at the Armani 5th Avenue store in New York in 2009. Studio Fuksas now has over 170 employees and offices in Rome, Paris, Shenzhen and Dubai.

Fuksas has designed collections with various design brands including seats and armchairs for Poltrona Frau, the Colombina Collection and vases for Alessi, lamps for Venini, iGuzzini and Slamp. From 2014 to 2015 she was the author of the Design column in the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica”.

In 2013 Doriana Fuksas was honored “Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française” and in 2002 she was decorated “Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française”.
