Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas “adopt” the village of Bibbona in central Tuscany
Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas “adopted” the village of Bibbona, a 3,100 inhabitants town in central Tuscany in the province of Livorno.
During the Press Conference at Piazza Duomo in Florence, the architects, together with the President of Regione Toscana Eugenio Giani and the Mayor of Bibbona Massimo Fedeli, presented the ambitious program to revitalize the small city.
The plan of the agreement for Bibbona is to rebuild the relationships between people and generations, redeveloping that part heritage abandoned in order to make the village more livable in the present, starting from the mobile network and internet.
“Bibbona represents the uncontaminated Tuscan myth: history, nature, wine” Fuksas said “And since too much was built in the 1980s, we want to build more relationships than buildings.”
“The town will become an international laboratory of architecture to build relationships between people and generations – a model of liveability, a village where urban regeneration will be studied and implemented” said Doriana Fuksas.
For the president of the Regione Toscana Eugenio Giani: “this is an important challenge that goes to all credit to the mayor Fedeli.
Bibbona lives a gap and a deep diversity between the summer period – when Marina comes to have about 150 thousand presences – and the winter period, during which residents are a few tens of people. Today, through the contribution of a great architect, the village could receive qualifying stimuli not only though concrete interventions, but also of resuscitation to attract presences and qualities with which Bibbona can intrigue.”
